So today is the 79th anniversary of the drive-in movie theater. Probably my favorite way to see a movie besides the comfort of our own home with tons of blankets and pillows. Not many exist anymore however and I for one find that sad, I mean forget the fact that it is cheaper and you can bring all your own snacks; what could be more fun than piling into the back of your mini-van or pickup truck snuggled up to watch a movie under the stars? We have been blessed however and this is our second duty station that has a nearby drive-in, actually we have two fairly close! We are going this weekend as a matter of fact; they are playing two kids' movies! Score! Madagascar 3 and The Pirates Band of Misfits. I doubt my boys will make it through much of the second one, if my youngest even makes it through the first haha but nonetheless, I am excited and happy that we can give them these memories because who knows how long we will still have any drive-in movie theaters left. I remember the first time we brought the boys to see a movie at one, it was in Georgia and I think we saw a Kung Fu panda movie, we had also seen one of the Harry Potter movies there as well. Their faces lit up when we pulled into our spot and had them hop out so they could play ball and blow bubbles while we set up the back of the van for movie viewing comfort. They had a blast and talked about it for weeks! I had taken them a few times the past couple of years as well but my husband had not been with us (training, deployment) so I am excited to be going with him this weekend.

The most used room in our house...

Is our living room. We have a small house right now so we do not have separate living and family rooms so this is definitely the most used room. We watch television in this room, play video games, read books. The boys' kitchen set is in the living room as well as a basket of toys. My husband and I would do our studies in this room when we were both still enrolled in classes (both graduates now!) My husband and the boys wrestle around on the floor in here also and sometimes we bring the boys' easel out into the living room and draw together. Our favorite living room was in our place in TX, it was HUGE! Plenty of room for entertaining and big enough for me to have a craft area off to the side; but this one is a lot smaller we never even have people over. I cannot wait until it is time for us to buy our forever home! When we have our forever home we will have a living room and a family room, one for entertaining and spending quality time together and the other for t.v and video games. I cannot wait to shop for furniture and decor for those rooms either!

A Child of the 80's

So, you have to admit that all of us who grew up in the 80's had the best toys ever made. I'm going to share with you a few of my favorites and would love to hear about yours!

Let's start with My Little Pony

I can't even recall all the different ones that were available, I had a few of them and used to love brushing them and letting my smaller toys "ride" on their backs. This was one of the best girl toys ever, today little girls are playing with rather trashy dolls instead of innocent toys. And we wonder what is wrong with young women today.

Next are Keypers, I remember having the sleepy one and I used to hide all sorts of things in it. It had a key and a little glow in the dark "pet".

Again, so girly and innocent. They don't make toys like this anymore.

Let's move onto one of my most favorites, the small scented Strawberry Shortcake (and company) figurines.

I actually still had some of these and recently got rid of them, I didn't even think about the possibility of how much money I could make off of them. Oh, well. Oh and you could still smell them! :) Talk about durable toys!

Little People are still around, but they are not made the same and I personally prefer the old school crew pictured here.

I still have some of these as well and my boys now play with them. :) I even bought them a few of the larger play sets off of eBay (the old school ones.) Another durable toy, they just don't make em like that anymore.

Finally, I cannot remember what these were called but I had the bunny family (actually, still do) and I used to absolutely love playing with them. They had cute little outfits that were removable and they were so soft. Another durable toy because they still look as good as new.

South Beach Cookies!

So I've decided I need to go back to Phase 1, because of how much weight I have to lose and because last week was a bit of a bad one diet-wise. Well, tonight I was really wanting something sweet after dinner but obviously wasn't about to cheat on my diet. So I finally decided to try the Phase 1 friendly PB cookies that were posted on 3fatchicks.com :) Here is the recipe and I must say even though they certainly aren't as good as my usual recipe (also posted on my blog) they are definitely a good substitute and pretty darn good for "diet cookies."


Chewy Peanut Butter Cookies

1 egg
1 cup granulated splenda
3/4 cup natural peanut butter
1/4 cup part skim ricotta
1 tablespoon vanilla


For chocolate peanut butter add 2 to 4 tablespoons cocoa powder and add additional splenda to sweeten cocoa powder.

Mix ingredients, spoon on to cookie sheet (lightly coated with cooking spray -canola spray is best) and bake 300 for 10 to 15 minutes


I did not try them with the cocoa powder this time but plan to next time I make them, and while it sounds pretty odd to make cookies with ricotta cheese, I must say I was pleasantly surprised, so if you are trying to watch your weight or even just your sugar intake, give them a shot!

I'm dreaming of a spacation {spa vacation} and I want to go...

Now! And here is how it is going to go down...

First I would get a facial...

Clearing all my pores and leaving me feeling completely refreshed and beautiful. Next we'll move onto the mud bath and facial mask...

Ahh, so relaxing! Peaceful music is playing in the background and no one around to interrupt or disturb. After a relaxing half hour here, it is time to wash off...

Now that I am nice and clean, it is time to move onto the full body massage; my masseur is waiting patiently and topless, with a glass of wine for me...

He lays me down and works his magic, what you see next to me is a bowl of gourmet chocolates that he is feeding me while he takes all my worries away.

After my hour long, full body massage; we decide to take a nap together...

And then I have to remind myself that I am married and do love my husband, so I run from the spa crying and drive home to my loving hubby. But doesn't this sound like an ideal day at the spa? I sure wouldn't mind it one little bit! :} ;)
